Classic Feet Of Film: Sheena

Tanya Robert's performance as Sheena may be the definative foot epic in modern filmmaking. If you love the bare feet of a beautiful woman, get thee to the DVD store and pick up a copy.

As far as I know, there is nothing but the pan and scan version. But consider this - except for one brief scene, Sheena wears no shoes at all. No trying to hide inexplicable sneakers, or showing scenes from the knee up - there are many, many MANY full-length shots of Tanya's amazing feet enduring the full range of terrain types availible in scenic Africa.

Is the story any good? It's a Tarzan-lite adventure, with evil American types working with corrupt African types to rip-off nature and Sheena's tribe. It's fun, but the nominal hero is too much of a comedy type, rather than really projecting any personal heroism. Maybe the producers didn't want him overshadowing Sheena in the film, but without him having any real action presence, he just seems like an appendix to the action. Though I had to question his sanity when Sheena offered him her foot to help himself up with while climbing a tree - he hesitated! The fool!

There is a gorgeous couple of nude scenes of Sheena in the film, quite nice and fully nude in nature scenes, but nothing can quite top the extreme depths that Tanya's feet went for the role. As I recall reading somewhere (maybe an old Starlog article), the one scene Tanya wore shoes in was because she refused to stand on a hot rock in the middle of a desert without any shoes after all she endured throughout filming. And it's a pretty brief scene, so don't let it hamper your foot-love viewing.

This is the definative foot classic, and fun for the whole family. I give the film, the extreme barefoot acting, and Tanya's basic foot a 10!

Many Feet of Doctor Who

I've been working my way through the seminal Key To Time season on Dr. Who, the long-running British sci-fi series. I hadn't seen them in a while, and I think that the PBS station that I used to watch came in really poorly when the Key To Time was shown. It's been a pleasant surprise, good comedic/adventure sci-fi on a budget lower than most of Herchel Gordon Lewis' work.

The story that caught my eye for this column though was The Stones of Blood. And why, you might ask? Because the Doctor's babely assistant for that season, Romana, was played by none other than lovely brunette Mary Tamm. The story starts out with her changing into high heels with much mention of the possible difficult terrain she would traverse on the adventure. So I'm thinking: "there is going to be some feet in this somewhere". Perked up by an otherwise great Hammer-esq sci-fi storyline, I was back into the storyline as the Doctor noticed some monster footsteps. To compare their size, Romana used her foot to show it was much larger than human size. So far, so nice. Then theyt team is beset by some local wackos, and in the ensuing story Romana is left behind because her heels would not traverse the terrain well.

So I'm thinking "This bodes well. If it's been made this big a deal in the plot, then surely it will show up again". And it does. Romana decides she needs to go after the Doctor when she hears his voice, so off come the shoes! The she has a long walk along the coastline (about a minute of screen time) as she searches for the Doctor, with many foot closeups at her delicate walking apparatus takes on both grassy areas and rocky, dirty areas with equal ease. Finally she is pushed from the cliff by an unseen force and she has to use her feet to help cling to the rocky side of the cliff. Lucky for her (and us) that she lost those stupid ol' shoes!

Wow. An amazing foot journey, that lasts through the cliffhanger of episode one and into episode two. The episode was quite good by my standards, so I'd give it a solid 7. Mary Tamm is a super babe, and her feet were adequte for the job. I'd say her feet would normally get a 6 (attractive, supple, pink polish), but the scene gets a 7 because of the number of close-ups and the variety of foot acting that was required. If you are a Doctor Who fan and a foot man (or woman), get thee to a DVD player, pronto!

Black Christmas

Okay, so I went to see that remake of Black Christmas. Though I'm a fan of horror from every generation, I hadn't seen the original. But the pedegree of the filmmaker (being an X-Files fan) made me decide to check it out.

And overall I thought it was a fun example of the slasher genre. Not every twist was expected by me, plenty of elaborate kills, decent acting.

As far as the Feet Count goes, neither Michelle Tractenberg nor Lacey Chabert, two fine ladies, showed any feet whatsoever. Drat! Fortunately for feet fans, relative newcomer Crystal Lowe did, and boy how! Her feet didn't come anywhere near a shoe the entire film, as her character, who I'll dub Busty Drunk Girl, walked around in her PJ's the whole time, bad-mouthing Christmas in general and in general was a bitch to her cohorts. She sits in an easy chair for a long time, and there is a scene of her in the bathroom where her feet get a nice 5 second close up, and even help to reveal a vital plot point (the killer has eyeholes under the floor, which is first hinted at when her toe dislodged a floor tile).

As far as the feet themselves, Crystal has nice, tanned, muscular feet, natural nail polish, good toe proportions, a bit fleshy for me, but very attractive and very bare. Out of 10, I give her feet a 6 (10 being the highest, 0 being the terror that is man-foot). I'd give Black Christmas as a film a 5, good for a slasher, fun, but not something you need to rush out and see right away.

Good day. Angels!

Well, it's time to enter the world of blogs. What will House of Feet be about, you might ask? I love film & tv, largely genre work in horror, sci-fi and fantasy - and I also love the feet of beautiful women. So I'm going to review both the various media I watch, and review those oh so lovely feet as well.

I have no idea if this will be of any interest to anybody in the world other than myself, but I figure it will be a nice place for my own ruminations about film & feet.
